NEWARK, DEL. (May 12, 2011) – The Center for Public Horticulture at the University of Delaware (CPH) has teamed-up with the American Public Gardens Association [...]

NEWARK, DEL. (May 12, 2011) – The Center for Public Horticulture at the University of Delaware (CPH) has teamed-up with the American Public Gardens Association (APGA) and Internships.com to provide students, educators and employers with state-of-the-art tools designed to connect internship seekers with horticulture internship opportunities worldwide. The announcement was made today jointly by Vikram Krishnamurthy, Managing Director of CPH, Dan Stark, Executive Director of APGA and Robin D. Richards, Chairman & CEO of Internships.com.

Internships.com has developed a dedicated microsite (http://www.internships.com/group/horticulture) accessible to horticulture students (via CPH) and APGA members so they can directly search for and connect to each other for free. The Companies will collaborate to identify and create relevant career related resources including webinars, videos, articles and blogs tailored to educate members about the advantages of horticulture internship programs.

“Although there are many horticulture internship opportunities at gardens and other institutions worldwide, promotion of internships in public horticulture has historically been a fragmented endeavor. This partnership will provide better and free access to these opportunities for students, university programs and public gardens,” said Mr. Krishnamurthy.

Individual gardens, arboreta and similar institutions can quickly post internship opportunities, easily manage and track candidates, as well as proactively search for interns by major, location, GPA or by specific keywords for free. When students match the search criteria, employers can directly invite them to apply for the position. Internships.com also provides free resources and templates to help develop and implement internship programs.

“Internship opportunities are critical to attracting students who are seeking careers in public horticulture, and leaders in the field are eager to mentor the younger generation of horticulture professionals. The timing of this partnership couldn’t be better considering the need for highly-trained entry-level employees,” said Mr. Stark.

“Internships are an increasingly important element of a student’s resume when applying for jobs after graduation. This is an opportune moment for us to step-up to help CPH achieve their goal of coordinating partnerships among academic institutions, public gardens and professional organizations with horticulture internship opportunities for students,” said Mr. Richards.

Students can create new or upload existing resumes; design a professional profile; search, save and filter internship listings nationwide by geographic location, industry and other keywords; and receive text, Facebook, Twitter and email notifications when opportunities that match their criteria become available. Internships.com also provides a Student Tool Kit with tips about how to handle interviews, informative articles, videos and blogs from student interns as well as industry experts.

About the American Public Gardens Association

Founded in 1940 as the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta, the American Public Gardens Association (APGA) adopted a new name in 2006 to better reflect the diversity of gardens that make up its membership. Over the last seven decades, the APGA has established itself as the leader for public gardens in North America. Today, APGA’s 500 member gardens entertain, educate and inspire more than 70 million visitors each year.

Historic Day in Social Recruiting Creates New Benchmark

WHY: Why, you ask? Following Charlie Sheen’s Tweet on March 7th, Internships.com measured the following groundbreaking results:

SPEED: 95,333 clicks on the tweet within the first hour.

REACH: applications came in from 181 countries.

YIELD: 74,040 applications have been submitted and that number is constantly rising.

Robin Richards, CEO of Internships.com stated: “College students are facing the highest levels of unemployment and underemployment in a generation. The stakes are high for our country and we had the opportunity to highlight the incredible matching technology and expertise of Internships.com. Not only was the day historical in terms of social media reach and the volume of responses, but the number of celebrities who have shown interest in our platform’s ability to harness the power of the social network has been surprising.”

WHAT: Charlie Sheen Tweeted on Monday, March 7th, that he is looking to hire a “winning” social media intern to join Team Sheen for an eight-week paid summer internship. The successful candidate will manage the logistics around his social media efforts, monitor the day-to-day activities on the major social media platforms, prepare for exciting online projects and increase his base of followers.

This afternoon, Charlie Sheen Tweeted “Why, you ask? http://bit.ly/gt9mnn #TigerBloodIntern.”

WHO: Internships.com is the world’s largest internship marketplace that enables every student, employer and educator to better understand, optimize and find internship opportunities. Internships.com has established itself as the leader in social recruiting; and has harnessed the power of the social network to spotlight the importance of internships.

Ad.ly approached Internships.com to handle Team Sheen’s interest in hiring a social media intern because the anticipated volume of responses to his Tweet would require a robust, market-leading platform to handle the through-put alone.

“Ad.ly represented their client with great professionalism and expertise,” added Richards.

Recruiting business solution enhances sourcing capabilities on popular social networking sites via largest Twitter job board in the world

Oceanside, CA (PRWEB) February 9, 2011

Advanced Personnel Systems, Inc. (APS), the maker of SmartSearch®, an industry leading talent acquisition system and recruitment business solution, adds capabilities for its users to leverage social media and engage candidates with new integration to TweetMyJOBS®, a comprehensive social media recruiting company and largest Twitter job board in the world.

With thousands of twitter accounts to choose from on TweetMyJOBS®, SmartSearch integration enables recruiters to select job category, geographic location, and other criteria to intelligently tweet job postings to a targeted audience of job seekers worldwide.

“We are excited to work with APS and enable the SmartSearch® applicant tracking system users to expand their social media reach with the new integration to our job posting management tools,” said Gary Zukowski, founder and president of TweetMyJOBS®.

“SmartSearch® has a long history of providing talent management software that centralizes sourcing, recruiting, applicant tracking, and hiring activities in an online database where all the pieces come together,” noted Doug Coull, CEO at APS. “We were an early adopter of social media integrations to our product, starting with RSS feeds and other Web 2.0 technology. SmartSearch leads the way in this hot industry trend.”

The new integration is part of SmartSearch Version 15 upgrade slated for release on in the first quarter of 2011, and is an addition to a number of social media resources already integrated to SmartSearch in 2010 such as ability to post jobs to user’s LinkedIn profile, Facebook page, or Twitter account, as well as share job postings to over 300 sites via AddThis.com.

SmartSearch® also supports networking and referral generation, by allowing
employees and candidates to ‘share a job’ through links to their personal pages. In addition, the system incorporates powerful research tools such as the LinkedIn Company Insider that identifies people at a specified company, with a count of how many are already connected to the user’s LinkedIn account, and the ability to more easily capture and export information into the SmartSearch® database.

With the new integration to TweetMyJOBS®, SmartSearch® users can promote job openings on virtually any social media site. APS is hosting a free demo of TweetMyJOBS® for its customers on February 17, and welcomes prospective clients in the recruitment and staffing industry, vendor partners, and the media to attend. Details and registration information can be found at https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/226638939

Seamless Integration Brings Twitter-based Social Media Recruiting Solution to myStaffingPro’s Applicant Tracking System

Charlotte, NC and Lima, OH (PRWEB) January 12, 2011

TweetMyJOBS, the world’s largest and most comprehensive Twitter-based recruiting solution, andmyStaffingPro®, a leading applicant tracking system, today announced they have integrated to provide recruiters with unprecedented social media job posting and applicant tracking capabilities. The integration allows myStaffingPro users to recruit and track applicants from one location with TweetMyJOBS JobBURST™, which enables recruiters to manage the social media distribution of all their jobs from a single control panel.

“This integration provides myStaffingPro users with access to a market-leading social media recruitment platform – one we’ve built from the ground up and regularly modified to ensure the solution meets the high demands of recruiters in the new social media recruiting age,” said Gary Zukowski, CEO of TweetMyJOBS. “Now, not only will myStaffingPro users be empowered with the ability to reach job seekers in a very efficient and focused manner, but, just as importantly, they’ll be able to track those applicants across their social media presence – whether its via LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter.”

How it Works
Each job opening posted through TweetMyJOBS is automatically distributed to job seekers based on geography and job type. With JobBURST™, job postings can also be sent to an individual or corporate Facebook account or LinkedIn page. Once one of these targeted job seekers applies for an open position, recruiters can track where those applicants came from – LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter – enabling them to manage the social media distribution of all their jobs from a single control panel.

“We’re committed to constantly evolving our platform, so partnering with an industry innovator like TweetMyJOBS was a win-win – they understand that social media offers a unique opportunity to carefully target, recruit, and track job seekers online,” said myStaffingPro President Bob Schulte. “This integration gives myStaffingPro another social media tool that we can offer to our clients. Now, any of our recruiting customers can easily sign on to TweetMyJOBS’ JobBURST™ dashboard to track applicants across all forms of online media.”

TweetMyJOBS provides the largest Twitter job board in the world. With nearly 10,000 vertical job channels segmented by geography, job type and industry, TweetMyJOBS connects employers and recruiters alike with targeted job candidates in real-time – instantly whenever a new job is posted through the TweetMyJOBS social media recruiting platform. Through these vertically-focused job channels, TweetMyJOBS has been able to consistently help organizations utilize social media to dramatically reduce recruiting costs while engaging a higher percentage of targeted, qualified job seekers.

Burbank, CA (PRWEB) December 28, 2010 Internships.com, the web’s largest internship marketplace with over 40,000 internship job listings, announced the results of their Fall Employer [...]

Burbank, CA (PRWEB) December 28, 2010

Internships.com, the web’s largest internship marketplace with over 40,000 internship job listings, announced the results of their Fall Employer Survey. The findings indicate strong trends in employer preferences, the online internships arena, and intern compensation.

When it comes to hiring interns, 93% of employers indicated that the most important qualification is “Relevant internships or experience.” The next two highly-rated qualifications were “Strong Resume/Cover Letter” and “Interview Performance.” These results indicate that students should learn how to quickly and clearly communicate their experience as well as their value to employers both on paper and in an internship interview setting. “Attendance at Preferred Schools” and “High Academic Performance” were the two lowest-rated qualifications, indicating a heavier reliance on highly valuable relevant experience and interview skills vs. a student’s educational pedigree.

With regard to the internship marketplace, the survey revealed a significant increase in employers that are starting their own internship programs. Of surveyed employers, almost half (40%) had brand-new programs this year. This is in contrast to the 26% of employers which have had internship programs in place for at least 5 years.

The online internship marketplace is also expanding: employers are increasingly using the web to find and research interns. Of surveyed employers, 41% have posted 3 or more internships on Internships.com. Of these, 99% of employers have already received at least 1 application from students, and 53% found their interns using internships.com. In addition to posting internships online, 52% of employers look up applicants on Facebook, Google, MySpace, LinkedIn, and other sites.

Indicating further confidence in interns and in the value they provide to employers, 40% of employers offer their interns some form of compensation – whether it is an hourly wage, flat rate, or stipend. Attesting to the value of internships beyond compensation, 43% of surveyed employers have made a full-time employment offer to at least one of their interns.

“Employers recognize that interns have a positive effect on their business, and that Internships.com is the best place to find the most qualified interns,” stated Robin Richards, CEO of Internships.com. “Students who are looking for an edge in this difficult economy should look no further than internships to provide that advantage.”
